Steve Bruce marvels at Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds transformation
Steve Bruce has been marvelling at the changes that Marcelo Bielsa has overseen at Leeds United.
The Newcastle manager will go head to head with Bielsa tomorrow night.
Ahead of the game, Bruce has spoke in glowing terms about his opposite number.
Talking about the way Bielsa has seen this Leeds side rise to the Premier League, Bruce stated (Yorkshire Evening Post):
“He’s very well regarded.”
“His team, now, are probably the team that you want to watch.”
“They’re different to everybody else. I’ve got nothing but respect for the guy who’s transformed Leeds.”
“When I took Sheffield Wednesday there a few years ago now, I witnessed first-hand, if you like, the change at Leeds.”
“I saw a group of players who had been in and around that league for a long time, no disrespect to them, and the impact of the manager on them.”
“I haven’t seen an impact like that.”
Of course, I’ve seen big managers walk in, like Tuchel, Klopp and Pep at Man City, but I’ve never seen anything at that level, a difference quite like it.”
Bruce isn’t the only managed who’s marvelled at Bielsa.
Pep Guardiola has previously referred to Bielsa as ‘the best coach in the world’ (Sky Sports).
That’s massive praise from a two-time Champions winning manager.
As Bruce and Bielsa go head to head tomorrow night, the Leeds fans will be desperate to get their first win of the season.
A defensive reshuffle is on the cards given the injury to Diego Llorente and the suspension of Pascal Struijk.
But given Bielsa’s tactical acumen there’s no reason why he can’t mastermind a victory over the also-winless Newcastle.
