Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has told Manchester United that Sean Longstaff is going nowhere this summer.

The Red Devils have been credited with interest in recent weeks, with a £30 million move touted (Mirror).

Having now worked with the young midfielder, Bruce is adamant he will not be sold amid the transfer interest.

The defiant 58-year-old said (Mirror): “We don’t want to sell our best young players, that’s for sure.

“So that won’t happen. I’m very confident of that.”

Fans are expected a big season from Longstaff, who gave a taster of what he’s about in the second half of last season.

Longstaff became a regular in the side before suffering a knee injury which ended his season early.

TBR’s view

He is a huge asset for the club, and it is vital for Newcastle to keep hold of him amid the growing toxicity at the club.

The 21-year-old is considered a shining light in what are dark times at the club.

United could well offer a huge amount, but the club simply mustn’t be tempted.
