Steve Bruce has delivered an injury update on three Newcastle United players during his pre-Norwich City press conference on Friday – as quoted by the Chronicle – and one could be a major blow for The Toon.
Newcastle travel to Carrow Road ahead of Saturday’s clash as they look to get their first points on the board, following a 1-0 home defeat to Arsenal. Norwich were battered 4-1 at Anfield by Liverpool last Friday.
Jonjo Shelvey lasted just 54 minutes last time out, but Bruce confirmed that the England international is fit and ready to play against Norwich on Saturday. New signing Emil Krafth remained on the bench last time out.
But the Sweden international has also been deemed fit and available for selection by Bruce. However, it is not all good news, as the Toon manager stated that exciting new signing Allan Saint-Maximin is a doubt for the clash.

“Jonjo Shelvey is going to be okay. Slight doubt for Allan Saint-Maximin. Slight hamstring and we’ll see how he does today. Krafth is fit,” Bruce said.
TBR’s view – Saint-Maximin missing is a big Newcastle blow
Winger Saint-Maximin came on for Newcastle following his eight-figure move to Tyneside from OGC Nice this summer, and he was one of the major positives during the defeat to Arsenal.
Powerful, skilful, quick and willing to pop off a shot. Saint-Maximin looks an excellent talent, and Newcastle need him to be available if they are to beat Norwich on Saturday. If he is missing, it is a big, big blow.
