Steve Bruce and Aston Villa is a relationship that fizzled out long ago

Many Aston Villa fans are calling for Steve Bruce’s head.

The Midlands club lie 15th in the Championship table, after winning just three of their first 10 games.

Impressively the club have only lost two games, but it isn’t washing – Bruce is under serious pressure at Villa Park.

Two seasons ago, Villa sacked Roberto Di Matteo after just 11 games, and Bruce’s record is just as poor at the same stage.

Ominously, as pointed about by the Guardian, Di Matteo’s Villa were dropping points from winning positions, whereas Bruce’s side are scrapping to save points.

Results are poor and the football is unsightly, and something else has arisen for Villa fans to digest.

Shocking statistic suggests promotion is unlikely under Bruce

It’s easy to get sucked in by football, but Villans ought to know that their club have only been in the top two of the Championship for a total of six days since Bruce took over two years ago.

For a club that harbours ambitions of being promoted back up to the Premier League, that is quite concerning.

A club of Villa’s size should not be languishing in the second tier of English football.

They may have gotten to the play-off final last season, but Fulham won. It’s not a reliable route.

Villa need to be aiming for automatic promotion and the Bruce reign shows no signs of achieving that.

He may have two games to ‘save his job’, but Bruce has most definitely overstayed his welcome.
