Liverpool remain interested in Thiago Alcantara, but a deal is seemingly still some way off.
The Reds are reported to be unwilling to pay the current asking price of £28 million set by Bayern Munich (Independent).
Apparently Manchester United have now come to the table for the Spanish midfielder, which could crank up the pressure on Liverpool.

There has been a fair bit of talk about how the Reds might be able to raise the cash, with Gini Wijnaldum being linked with a move to Barcelona.
In the eyes of former Reds defender Stephen Warnock though, £25 million signing Wijnaldum (BBC Sport) need not be the player that has to make way in order to raise the required funds.
Speaking on Stadium Astro, he said: “There’s a lot of talk around Merseyside that Wijnaldum has to go for the deal to happen.

“I don’t think that’s necessarily the case.
“I think the likes of Harry Wilson, Marko Grujic, Rhian Brewster – if these fringe players leave and they raise enough money for the £30m that Bayern Munich are after, I think they’d more than happily keep Wijnaldum.”
TBR’s View – Liverpool’s hand may be forced
While Wilson, Brewster and Grujic could all fetch decent fees, the reality is that the situation with Wijnaldum’s contract is somewhat problematic.

Liverpool would surely love to keep the Netherlands international but his deal expires next summer, and there has been no indication so far that the player will extend.
The Reds ultimately may have no choice but to cash in now.
But if Wijnaldum is to stay, then perhaps Wilson would be the best possible sale for Liverpool.
His route to regular Liverpool minutes is a difficult one, but he’s showcased his ability in the Premier League already, meaning he may not be short of suitors.
