Stephen Warnock has heaped praise on Fabinho for his performance during Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Ajax in the Champions League last night.
The former Reds left-back was watching the game for BBC Sport and thought the Brazilian was the pick of the bunch for Jurgen Klopp’s team.
Fabinho was deployed as a central defender in the absence of Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip and didn’t disappoint.

He ensured the Dutch champions were kept at bay with some breathtaking defender at the Amsterdam Arena.
The 26-year-old has proved his worth in a number of areas for Liverpool this season – quickly becoming one of Klopp’s most integral players.
Warnock came through the youth ranks at Anfield and he was blown away by the former Monaco man on Wednesday night.
He told BBC Sport: “Fabinho was immense in everything he did.
“He stepped onto the play and broke things up, he stepped in at the right times. When he knew there was a danger, he headed everything that came into the box.
“If it needs to go it goes and he just dealt with situations comfortably and cleared his lines.”
Fabinho put in a similarly strong performance at centre-back during a win over Chelsea earlier in the season.
Professional
The £100,000-a-week player has arguably been the top-performing member of Klopp’s team so far this season – and boy do they need him to be on form right now.
With Van Dijk and Matip both currently ruled out, Joe Gomez is the only senior defender in the ranks.

With that in mind, it’s vital that Fabinho keeps up his stunning form and helps Liverpool continue their title defence.
Klopp will surely look to strengthen in January but a few more performance like this from Fabinho will certainly help.
