Stephen Kelly has told Sky Sports News (Thursday, 10.25am) that he believes Tottenham Hotspur are on the cusp of making a “statement” signing, after securing a new stadium, new training facilities and Jose Mourinho.
Spurs have been repeatedly linked with a striker, in order to replace the injured Harry Kane who is out until April. It is believed the England captain has torn his hamstring, with some claiming that it might be longer than April for Kane to return.
The north Londoners have failed to replace the loss of Fernando Llorente who joined Napoli in the summer. It has seen Mourinho use Lucas Moura up front, while Son Heung-min and Troy Parrott are also options.
But Son is preferred out wide and Parrott is only 17. Willian Jose is reportedly in talks with Spurs, but former Tottenham man Kelly reckons a big, statement signing is “in the pipeline” after completing the stadium, training facilities and getting Mourinho.
