Stephen Kelly has posted on Instagram after the young Rangers midfielder penned new terms at Ibrox before going on loan to Scottish Premiership side Ross County – and plenty have reacted to his post, including Jordan Jones.
Kelly, 20, was loaned to Ayr United in the Scottish Championship last season and starred for the second-tier side – scoring six goals and creating four more in 33 league and cup appearances.
Videos emerged of a number of long-range strikes by Scotland Under-21 international Kelly on social media. He is considered one of the brightest sparks in Rangers’ youth academy, along with Josh McPake and Dapo Mebude.
Rangers confirmed on Wednesday that Kelly had agreed a new contract with the Gers until the summer of 2023, with his previous deal lasting until next summer. Kelly also spoke of his excitement at going on loan to Ross County.
Kelly certainly needs to show that he can impress at top-tier level if he is to have a chance of having success with his boyhood club. The Gers boast enormous midfield talent, with more signings likely to be made.
Mebude responded to his post as did senior Rangers ace Jones, while Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour – who came through the ranks at Rangers before moving south to west London – also responded to Kelly.
