Reported Leeds United and Celtic target Stephan Ambrosius has commented on his plans for the future this week, admitting a desire to remain with his current club Hamburg.
The German youth international is out of contract with the 2.Bundesliga side in the summer and, as reported by Hanauer Anzeiger last month, Leeds’ interest was piqued by this situation.
BILD later reported that Celtic are also monitoring the impressive defender’s availability.
However, speaking to that same publication this week, Ambrosius suggested his long-term plan was to remain at the Volksparkstadion long into the future.
“My advisor is in close contact with the association. As a native of Hamburg, it’s best to play for HSV,” Ambrosius told BILD earlier this week.
“My dream is to get promoted with HSV. Everyone in the club knows that we should remain humble and always give 100 percent. If we can do that, we will be so strong that nothing should be able to stop it.”

Leeds defensive issues have been somewhat overlooked this season due to their often impressive displays in the other direction.
However, it can not be denied that the likes of Liam Cooper and newbie Robin Koch have struggled to adapt to Premier League football. Diego Llorente, another new signing, has not yet managed to find adequate fitness to thrive.
Celtic meanwhile signed Shane Duffy in the summer to strengthen their weak backline but have clear issues in the position, with doubts over the long-term future of Kristoffer Ajer.
Ambrosius does still remain an option until that contract has been extended, something which is becoming something of a saga for the historic German club. It is likely he is waiting to see if Hamburg can achieve his ‘dream’ and secure promotion back to Germany’s elite.
If not, then Leeds and Celtic might be able to strike.
