Salomon Rondon is one goal away from double figures after scoring in Newcastle United’s 2-2 draw at Bournemouth.

Rondon opened the scoring for the visitors before a Josh King double gave Bournemouth the lead and Matt Ritchie’s late goal ensured the points were shared.

It was yet another impressive performance by Rondon, who has endeared himself to fans with full-blooded and passionate displays.

The physical centre-forward, who is on loan from West Bromwich Albion, now has nine goals in 23 Premier League starts, as well as five assists.

Rondon has a reputation for being a bit of a battering ram forward, causing problems for defenders with his strength, aerial dominance and hold-up play.

But yesterday, the 29-year-old showed another side of his game as he curled in an exquisite long-range free-kick to give the Magpies the lead.

Newcastle fans are desperate to see the Venezuela international stay beyond the end of his loan spell and sign a permanent deal at St James’ Park.
