Statistic highlights just how important Richarlison is to Everton

Everton slipped to defeat again in the Premier League yesterday, with the Toffees losing 2-1 to Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side wowed in the opening weeks of the 2020/21 season with their free-scoring ways, but the Merseyside club have hit their first bump in the road.

After losing against Southampton, Everton needed to bounce back.

But at Newcastle they were disjointed and unimaginative.

It seemed they really missed the likes of James Rodriguez and Richarlison, and an interesting statistic has cropped up about the Brazilian, who is currently suspended.

Since joining the club in 2018, Richarlison has been unavailable for seven Premier League matches, and Everton have failed to win a single one of those games (@OfficialFPL).

If anything it shows just how influential he is for Everton.

TBR’s View – Richarlison huge for Everton

Everton were missing a number of key players yesterday in addition to Richarlison, but the statistic really does underline the £90,000-a-week South American’s (Spotrac) importance to the team.

The team appear to struggle a fair amount when he isn’t on the field, and this is something Ancelotti needs to address.

The likes of Bernard and Alex Iwobi need to step up in the cases where Richarlison can’t play.

Richarlison is still banned for next weekend’s game with Manchester United, and Ancelotti needs for someone to take over the Brazilian’s mantle.
