Leeds United fans are urging Marcelo Bielsa to start Kalvin Phillips, despite some concern over his fitness.
Phillips to play?
Bielsa told Leeds Live yesterday that Phillips was edging closer to full fitness, but wasn’t there yet.
That has sparked concern among Leeds supporters, who are desperate for the defensive midfielder to return.
And Leeds supporters say that Phillips should be risked, otherwise they fear the worst against Everton this weekend.
Vital
Phillips’ importance to Leeds was once again highlighted on opening day, as Manchester United beat the Whites heavily.
Leeds looked weak in midfield at Old Trafford, as they were too easily played through.
Leeds had been linked with signing cover for Phillips this summer, but that hasn’t happened yet, and Bielsa suggested yesterday that all their signings were likely to be complete.
That means that Leeds simply cannot afford to risk Phillips, if there is any danger of him picking up an injury.
However, if he is included in Bielsa’s starting line-up then confidence among the Elland Road support will increase exponentially.
