‘Start him’: Some Rangers fans rave about £9.1k-a-week man’s ‘ridiculous’ training-ground goal

A number of Glasgow Rangers fans have called on Jordan Jones to be given more game time after the Ibrox club’s Twitter account shared a training-ground video of a “ridiculous” goal from the 25-year-old.

Steven Gerrard’s charges are in Europa League action on Thursday night, but as Jones was omitted from the 21-man group to compete in Europe due to a lack of homegrown players in the squad, he won’t feature.

Jones has struggled for game time this season, making just three appearances in all competitions – two Premiership starts and an 18-minute cameo in the Europa League third-round qualifier.

The Northern Irishman had started both league games prior to the Old Firm derby but lost his spot on the right wing to Brandon Barker for the 2-0 win over Celtic last weekend.

Jones showed what he’s capable of in training when he nutmegged Steven Davis and cut inside James Tavernier in the box before whipping a sublime curling effort into the top corner.

Cue the Rangers feed sharing the £9,100-a-week man’s goal and Bears raving about his efforts:

After Rangers take on Standard Liege on Thursday evening, they return to Premiership action on Sunday when they host Livingston at Ibrox.
