A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that Reds academy ace Neco Williams has signed a new contract at Anfield.
The 19-year-old defender joined Liverpool’s academy as a six-year-old and has progressed through the ranks, culminating in a great breakthrough season last time out.
Williams made his first-team debut in the Reds’ League Cup tie with Arsenal last October, which the Merseysiders won on penalties after an exhilarating 5-5 draw.

The full-back went on to make a further 10 first-team appearances, six of which came in the Premier League, and also claimed a medal as part of the triumphant FIFA Club World Cup squad.
The Liverpool website announced on Monday that Williams had penned a long-term contract at Anfield, with BBC Sport reporting a five-year deal.
Some of Williams’ exploits last season came for huge praise, with Jurgen Klopp describing his performance in the 2-0 FA Cup loss to Chelsea as “super”.
Andrew Robertson, meanwhile, told the Liverpool website in July: “He’s got so much ability and so much energy, so much confidence in his own ability that he’ll have a fantastic career in the game.
“He’s got an abundance of ability and he can play both full-back positions pretty easily, so I’m sure he will push me and Trent all the way next season and that’s what we need to have – healthy competition in the squad.”
Needless to say, quite a few Liverpool fans are delighted with Williams penning a new deal and took to social media to have their say:
