Arsenal fans might be worrying whether or not they’re next in the great football club ownership debate, as Roman Abramovich prepares to sell up at Chelsea.
The Russian billionaire has come under increasing pressure as the EU sanctions a number of oligarchs and the scenes over in Ukraine continue to unfold. And with that, Abramovich has caved and has put the Blues up for sale.
But what about other Premier League clubs? Well, we all know that Alisher Usmanov’s links with Everton and previously with Arsenal have been under the spotlight too. Gunners fans, then, will be rightfully wondering if the current global landscape will impact their club. However, according to Miguel Delaney of The Independent, Gunners fans needn’t panic.

Writing in his latest newsletter column for the publication, Delaney explained that rather than selling up, Stan Kroenke’s plans are actually quite the opposite with the Gunners.
“On the subject of takeovers, Arsenal are seen as the only club in the Premier League who are absolutely not for sale. The Kroenke’s see the whole project as too valuable to their sports empire. Nigerian cement mogul Aliko Dangote once approached the hierarchy to “name their price”, but he didn’t get a response. The Kroenke’s are “very proud” of the club. The growing feeling is that Arsenal are now willing to spend much more, and move onto the next stage of the project.”
Arsenal fans, then, can look forward to a summer of spending it seems.
TBR’s View: Arsenal Smelling Success Under Arteta
There is a sense that something is growing at Arsenal with Arteta at the helm and Stan Kroenke must have a similar feeling.
He has backed the Gunners boss in the summer and was prepared to do so in January too. And he doesn’t appear to be slowing down either, with this summer now looking like a big one.
This will be music to Arsenal fans’ ears. They’ve wanted this sort of commitment for years and this summer could see them really attack the market.
