Stan Collymore has told Empire of the Kop that Everton could sack Rafa Benitez this week, if Liverpool beat them by four or five goals on Thursday.
Benitez is under pressure having gone seven Premier League games without a win – losing five of those, including Brentford on Sunday.
Everton sit in a lowly 14th place, despite harboring pre-season expectations of challenging for the top-half of the table. They are some way off that.
Benitez was a controversial appointment to begin with anyway. The Spaniard is obviously a Liverpool icon, and is yet to win over fans.
Ex-Liverpool man Collymore says he does not expect Everton to sack Benitez – but if Liverpool win 4-0, or 5-0, on Thursday then he could go.

They’ve got an experienced manager, that traditionally comes good in the second half of the season. I don’t think Benitez will be sacked.
“Unless they suffer a 4 or 5-0 drubbing. If Rafa keeps them between seventh and tenth, they will keep him for another season,” Collymore added.
“In a relegation fight by February or March, they might bring a fire fighter in. Unless they lose to Liverpool by 4 or 5-0, he will stay.”
Collymore on Everton: Benitez to go after heavy Liverpool loss?

It is not beyond the realms of possibility. Everton looked bereft of ideas on Sunday against Brentford, and have failed to score in their last three games.
But what the board will know, is Benitez has spent a tiny amount of money owing to tricky financial fairplay rules. Dom Calvert-Lewin is missing.
Another defeat to Liverpool is not going to change anything, or surprise anyone. However, as Collymore says, a heavy one could change that.
If Everton are swept aside by Liverpool, which is possible after a 4-0 win over Arsenal and a 5-0 drubbing of Manchester United – Benitez could go.
