Stan Collymore was blown away by Liverpool after they continued their remarkable season by beating Southampton 4-0 at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds were goalless going in at half-time, but scored through Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jordan Henderson and Mohamed Salah (two) in the second-half to blow their opponents away.
Jurgen Klopp’s team have now won 24 and drawn one of their 25 league games this season, as they race towards a first Premier League title.
The Merseyside giants are 22 points clear of second-placed Manchester City in the table and it doesn’t look like anybody can get near them this campaign.
Collymore hailed Liverpool as “exceptional” on his official Twitter account following the win, but did suggest that the standard this year of some other teams in the division has dropped.
Exceptional team at the top. Really.
But how poor is a league where one of “the best Champions ever” are 7 full wins behind? In Feb!
Or today’s visitors? Poor most season but are 3 wins off CL!
If this was Ger or Spa we’d be caning the lack of competition.

Liverpool are flying towards the league title at a canter and it’s no surprise each week to see them pick up yet another win, even if they were made to work hard in the first-half against an improving Southampton team.
They took control though of the contest once they made the breakthrough and Roberto Firmino was once again the unsung hero with his hat-trick of assists.
Despite Sadio Mane being absent against his former team through injury, the Reds still had far too much firepower going forward and they rotate between themselves form so well.
This Liverpool team is going the right direction to be discussed alongside the best of the Premier League era and it wouldn’t be fair to discredit their achievement based off the quality of opposition.
