Stan Collymore praised Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane following his performance in the huge win away to Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.
Dean Smith’s side produced their best game of the Premier League season so far by thrashing Norwich 5-1 at Carrow Road to earn three important points.
Striker Wesley Moraes scored twice for the Midlands club in the first-half and they pressed home their advantage with three more goals in the second-half.
Jack Grealish, Hourihane and Douglas Luiz all got on the scoresheet, before Josip Drmic scored a late consolation for hosts Norwich.
Collymore picked out Hourihane for his praise following his goal and believes he should be an ever-present in the team.
The 28-year-old has now started back-to-back league matches and helped pick up four points in that time, but his previous league start was on the opening day.
“Deserves his goal, deserves to be a fixture in this team!!” Collymore wrote on his personal Twitter account.
Hourihane certainly brings an excellent balance to the Villa side when he starts in the centre of the park and the box-to-box midfielder played an important role in the eye-catching victory at Norwich.
The left-footed Irishman popped up with a goal to highlight the offensive side of his game and an assist too, which is why it’s important manager Smith tries to fit him into the XI on a weekly basis.
There is plenty of competition within the squad for the midfield areas, but surely after the international break he’s done enough to retain his spot.
