Stan Collymore believes that Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish could become a super talent if he ends up at Liverpool in the future.
The 24-year-old is currently the talisman in a Villa team that are fighting against relegation in the Premier League and they have pinned a lot of their hope on him.
He’s played 24 matches across all competitions so far this campaign, scoring nine goals and supplying six assists in return.
The English playmaker is so pivotal in Dean Smith’s team at present and is proving his qualities in the top-flight.
Grealish is an attacking midfielder with nimble dribbling and there is a consistent goal output from him this season.
Collymore, who played for both Liverpool and Villa in his career, has suggested that the attacking midfielder should end up at Anfield to take his game to the next level.
“His talent deserves a better platform, and if you were to stick Grealish in that Liverpool midfield and let him service their magic front three, the kid could be one of Europe’s most effective midfielders,” Collymore wrote in the Mirror.
“He could even have an England team built around him. Forget Manchester United, Grealish will be waiting five years to reach the level he could get to at Anfield.
Grealish is surely destined for a big-money move eventually away from Villa Park, as he’s playing consistently at a top level for them and doesn’t deserve from an individual perspective to be in a relegation fight.
But his team are in the drop zone right now, so surely eventually someone will come calling for him.
Liverpool are racing towards the league title this season and there long-term problem will be finding transfer targets that can make a difference to their world-class starting XI.
Grealish would bring a different creativity to the Reds midfield, but they are extremely successful with workaholics such as the likes of Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Fabinho.
