Stan Collymore has claimed that current Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers would be the “perfect” man to fill Aston Villa’s vacant managerial position.
The Midlands giants are searching for a successor to Steve Bruce following his sacking and they are hopeful a new man can guide them out of the Championship this season.
According to the Daily Record, Villa will ask Scottish champions Celtic for permission to speak to their manager Rodgers.
Collymore has stated on social media that Rodgers would fit the bill perfect for Villa and hinted to his previous experience.
Super coach, managed at two huge clubs, track record of finding young gems in/out of club, front foot football, knows league.
A complete and utter no brainer if due diligence is part of Villa process.
Our 3 owners have zero clue about football recruitment. Zero. Fact. https://t.co/KseQ8gfCuq

Villa need to ensure they get the next appointment right and there is every chance Rodgers could be an outstanding manager for them if he takes the role.
He has just won back-to-back domestic trebles with current club Celtic, while he was a popular figure at Liverpool too and nearly led them to a first ever Premier League title.
Rodgers also has experienced promotion from the Championship before with Swansea City and ticks most boxes for a young exciting manager.
But it looks like Villa may have to go down a different path and it will be interesting to see who takes the hotseat.
