Stan Collymore and Jamie Carragher have both reacted on Twitter after Liverpool triumphed against the odds to knock Bayern Munich out of the Champions League and progress to the last eight.
Liverpool went into the match after failing to break down Niko Kovac’s side at Anfield, the game finishing 0-0. With the second leg at the Allianz Arena, Jurgen Klopp’s side were underdogs.
But that quickly changed as they scored a crucial away goal through Sadio Mane, who latched on to a long ball before turning Manuel Neuer inside out and finishing with a superb chip.
A Joel Matip own goal had Liverpool worried, but Virgil van Dijk scored a towering header before Mane got on the score sheet again to put the game beyond doubt with a 3-1 win.
Carragher was elated with his former side, while Collymore is hoping Liverpool draw Manchester City again in the next round after last season’s enthralling two-legged tie.

TBR’s view
Liverpool were sublime. Mo Salah has struggled in recent weeks and the fluidity between the front three that Liverpool fans had come to expect has been missing. But it was firmly back on show on Wednesday night.
The Reds were in punishing mood and it certainly is a sign to the rest of the competition that they smell blood. Juventus and Barcelona are perhaps the favourites going into the last eight.
But if Liverpool can produce this kind of form against Europe’s best between now and the end of the season, the Champions League trophy could be on the way to Merseyside.
