Spurs will attempt to sign Martinez this summer, says journalist

Tottenham apparently have an interest in Inter striker Lautaro Martinez ahead of the summer transfer window.

Di Marzio claim that Fabio Paratici had an interest in Martinez before Antonio Conte came to north London anyway.

And Conte worked with Martinez at Inter, so it marries up that the keenness would not fade away now the Italian is in charge.

Martinez finished above Tottenham’s talismanic striker Harry Kane in the most recent Ballon D’or rankings.

Kane picked up 23rd spot at the awards ceremony, while Martinez was ranked as the 21st best player for 2021.

But would Lautaro be signed to play alongside Kane, or replace him in the event that this summer is when he finally leaves the club?

Martinez does tend to prefer to play in a front two with Inter, but there is always the chance that Heung-min Son could be his strike partner.

That would be a dynamic duo, but Kane’s future is the big question mark and it seems that only the Manchester clubs could really get him.

And if City go for Erling Haaland, that leaves United, who currently do not have a permanent manager and are very much on the back foot in the top four race.
