Spurs have reportedly set their sights on Benoit Badiashile, according to Calciomercato.

Tottenham appointed Antonio Conte earlier this week, and there’s a good chance he’ll want to bring his own players in.

With the transfer window on the horizon, there’s not long to go until Spurs get the chance to strengthen their ranks.

And according to Calciomercato, Monaco defender Badiashile is a “new name” for Conte’s defence.

The 20-year-old came through the ranks at the Stade Louis II and made his breakthrough in 2019-20.

Badiashile has made 101 senior appearances to date for Monaco, including 16 in all competitions this season.

The 6ft 4in talent was linked with Spurs in 2019, and Manchester United and Newcastle United were apparently eyeing him last year.

Spurs eyeing “great talent”?

Monaco vice-president Oleg Petrov waxed lyrical about Badiashile last year.

“He is a great talent,” he told Get French Football News.

“He will perform and then maybe one day, he can have by far a better career in one of the best clubs.

“Very solid, very young, playing from 18-years for the first-team at Monaco, also playing in the Espoirs team for France.

“Very good technically, very humble, very fast, gives a lot of comforts when he plays, but still very young.

“For a player of his age, playing all the games as a starter, it is a huge opportunity for him to develop into a player of the highest calibre.”
