Spurs want Luka Modric 2.0 ahead of Red Devils and Bayern - report

Spurs have reportedly identified Rennes midfielder Lovro Majer as a key transfer target next summer.

This is according to French outlet Homme Du Match, who believes Tottenham have the 23-year-old towards the top of their 2022 wishlist.

As well as Spurs, the likes of Manchester United and Bayern Munich are also apparently eyeing the Croatian playmaker.

However, Tottenham are reportedly the most interested in Majer out of all the clubs currently in the picture.

The 5ft 9in talent joined Rennes for a reported £10.8million in the summer and has one goal and two assists from eight appearances for them.

Spurs reportedly eyeing Luka Modric 2.0?

Majer has been compared to fellow Croatian Luka Modric – a Spurs icon – thanks to his style of play, diminuitive build and emergence from Dinamo Zagreb.

The 23-year-old is aware of such comparisons, previously describing them as “nice” to hear.

While Majer admits he feels he’s a “long way” from reaching Modric’s levels, he reckons he’s on the “right track”.

The Ligue 1 website has also cited comparisons between the Rennes ace and the likes of Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe and Lyon’s Houssem Aouar.

Spurs could certainly do with a creative playmaker who’s dangerous in the final third, and Majer would very much fit the bill.
