Spurs to explore move for £200k-a-week attacker with same agent as Mourinho and Nuno

Tottenham Hotspur are in need of bolstering their ranks in the January transfer window, particularly on the left flank.

Spurs trio Ivan Perisic, Manor Solomon and Richarlison are all on the sidelines, so Ange Postecoglou is likely to look at bringing in a reinforcement.

Al-Ittihad winger Jota has been linked with a move to Tottenham, and football.london has provided an update on Spurs’ stance towards the Portuguese ace.

Alasdair Gold wrote that Tottenham ‘will likely explore the possibility of a loan move at least for the attacker, who is represented by Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute agency.’

The 24-year-old joined Al-Ittihad for £25million in the summer, but he hasn’t even broken into double figures for appearances this season.

Jota has not been able to play for the Saudi Pro League side in their league matches as they can only include eight overseas players in their squad.

The Portuguese talent scored 28 goals and laid on 26 assists in two seasons under Postecoglou at Celtic, playing on both the left and right wing.

Postecoglou is a big fan of Jota, describing him as ‘incredible’ during their time together at Parkhead.

No-brainer for Tottenham to pursue Jota – TBR View

Admittedly, we have had some slightly conflicting reports on the Jota to Tottenham front.

One recent report from the Scottish Sun suggested that Postecoglou was still unsure whether the player would be a good fit for the Premier League.

However, it certainly makes sense to at least explore a loan deal for the £200,000-a-week talent, who is with the same agency as former Spurs bosses Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo.

Jota is incredibly talented, prolific, versatile, yet to reach his prime, has worked with Postecoglou before, and may just be available in January.
