Spurs will no doubt continue their hunt for a new central defender this summer, with Jose Mourinho seemingly intent on adding a new centre-back again.
Last summer saw Spurs land Joe Rodon but the likes of Milan Skriniar evaded them. But that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill continuing to go into overdrive, with the likes of Lewis Dunk and Joachim Andersen just a few of the names mentioned this week.
But if Spurs do really want to get a bargain deal and solve their defender search, then AC Milan star Alessio Romagnoli could be the man for them this summer.

Reports from Gazzetta claimed yesterday that Milan could sell Romagnoli this summer for just £17m. It comes in the midst of the Italian defender wanting £100k-a-week in wages for a new deal, something Milan have turned their nose up at.
For Spurs, however, that might well open a door that they simply can’t afford to miss.
Romagnola is world-class and fits the bill
You have to be some player to be AC Milan skipper in your early 20s. But that’s what Romagnolia was, after he was handed the armband at just 23 back in 2018.
Furthermore, we all know how well regarded Italians are for their defensive mindset. Romagnoli is everything you expect to see in an Italian defender. He keeps the ball away from the net first and foremost, but is good enough with the ball to ensure he’d slot into most teams.
Given the amounts clubs pay for players in the modern game, £17m is a snip for Romagnoli if that fee is right. And with Milan’s rivals Inter still said to be demanding over £70m for Milan Skriniar, this could be a no-brainer.
In terms of central defenders who fit the criteria for Mourinho and Spurs, they won’t come much better suited than Romagnoli.
