TBR View: Santo will be keeping tabs on Wolves' Jimenez as potential Kane replacement
Spurs continue to push ahead with looking for new players, as the Nuno Santo and Fabio Paratici era firmly gets going in North London.
So many players have already been linked with moves to the club, although as yet, nothing has quite got over the line. There is movement expected in the coming days and weeks, however, with the likes of Takehiro Tomiyasu expected to join soon.
But at the top of the pitch is where things could really matter. Harry Kane’s future remains unclear, so Santo and Paratici will need to have other options on the agenda.
And one of the names on the agenda could well be Wolves striker, Raul Jimenez, who returned from his skull injury just yesterday.
The Mexican was integral for Santo at Wolves, scoring goals and being the focal point of the success the new Spurs boss at Molineux.
As the weeks go by, there definitely seems to be a suggestion that Kane could leave. Indeed, reports this weekend suggested the England skipper could even miss training to force the issue.
Although that seems unlikely, the reports will concern the club. Jimenez, then, could well be someone who Spurs put on their long list.
Despite missing the last year with his injury, there is no doubting his quality. The big striker has hit 48 goals in just over 100 games for Wolves.
Indeed, prior to getting injured last season, he scored four in ten and was a constant threat for Wolves. His hold up play, ability to occupy defenders, and sheer presence helped the likes of Daniel Podence, Pedro Neto, and Adama Traore find more space.
That sort of playing style could appeal to Spurs. Kane does it so well already, dropping deep and occupying defenders to allow the likes of Son to run in behind.
Of course, there’s a lot for Jimenez to prove fitness wise in the coming weeks. But should Kane actually leave Spurs, then the Wolves man should be right at the top of Santo’s shopping list.
