Spurs and Arsenal reportedly look set to battle for Dusan Vlahovic over the coming weeks.

Gianluca Di Marzio claimed at the weekend that both Tottenham and the Gunners are eyeing the Fiorentina star.

But Spurs will surely fancy their chances of beating Arsenal to the 21-year-old striker in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham appear to have stolen a march on the Gunners already, as per a report last night.

Tuttomercatoweb claimed that Spurs would be meeting Vlahovic’s agent today for preliminary talks.

New Tottenham football director Pabio Paratici has extensive knowledge of Serie A and has already brought two players over from Italy.

His expertise and contacts would certainly give Spurs an edge over Edu in terms of making deals over Italy-based players.

In addition, Tottenham are in need of a striker much more than Arsenal.

While the Gunners already have several top forwards in their ranks, Spurs need cover and competition for Harry Kane.

And given Nuno Espirito Santo is reportedly looking to play two strikers up front, Vlahovic stands to be a starter right from the off.

The Serbia international, who netted 21 goals in 40 appearances for Fiorentina last term, is reportedly on a £28,000-a-week contract until 2023.

TMW claim the Viola value Vlahovic at €70million (£59million), while Di Marzio claim €60million (£51million) is the starting price.

Spurs and Arsenal eyeing the next big striker?

According to Italy legend Christian Vieri, Vlahovic is comparable to the likes of Erling Braut Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.

“I think that, after Haaland and Mbappe, he’s one of the strongest in Europe,” he said on his Twitch channel.

“He has quality, technique. He is Serbian and they are all technically good. They are called the Brazilians of the east.”

Former Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic recently told Football Italia: “He will be the best striker of the next few years with Erling Haaland.”

What have football fans been saying about Vlahovic?

If Spurs could land Vlahovic ahead of Arsenal, they’d get a top player and yet more bragging rights over their north London rivals.
