Tottenham Hotspur managed to get two good signings over the line during the January transfer window.

Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur joined the Spurs ranks late on in the month.

Tottenham reportedly also made a move for Franck Kessie, but failed to get their hands on him.

Unsurprisingly really – Milan wanted to keep him around as they look to win the Scudetto this year.

However, it looks as though Spurs are still trying to land Kessie ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Sport – via Sport Witness – claimed Tottenham ‘have already presented a very powerful offer for the midfielder’.

Indeed, Spurs ‘could end up winning the bid with a high salary and transfer bonus’.

Sport add that Kessie – whose £69,000-a-week contract expires in summer – will simply go to ‘the highest bidder’.

In addition, Fabio Paratici apparently ‘knows him very well and already wanted him for Juventus’.

Therefore, the expectation is the Spurs director ‘would prioritise his arrival in the Premier League as a strategic operation’.

This is great news for Tottenham fans if true – Kessie is a player of the highest calibre.

“Clearly stronger” than Gattuso, compared to “prime Essien”

The 25-year-old boasts over 200 competitive appearances for Milan and 52 caps for Ivory Coast.

Vincenzo Montella has previously deemed him “extraordinary“.

Meanwhile, Gennaro Gattuso said Kessie is “clearly stronger” than he was as a player.

And over the years, fans have been comparing his style of play to that of Michael Essien.

Tottenham fansite Cartilage Free Captain has also lauded the prospect of Kessie playing for Spurs.

They wrote last year: “Considered a defensive midfielder, Kessie embodies the type of midfielder that Conte could find extremely resourceful.

“Kessie has grown into his stature well since getting more and more seasoning in Serie A.

“He has a great football brain and uses his strength and athleticism to win 50-50 balls in midfield.

“On top of that, Kessie is spectacular at passing the ball, indicating that when he does win out duels in the middle of the field, he is a danger to opposing defenses to push the ball forward into dangerous areas.”

In a nutshell, he’d be a fantastic player for Conte’s Tottenham.
