Spurs reportedly want to sign £26m maestro who's like De Bruyne but Paratici has to hurry - TBR View
Spurs are reportedly eyeing Mikkel Damsgaard, a player who has made waves at Euro 2020.
According to Samp News 24, new Tottenham director Fabio Paratici has earmarked the Sampdoria ace for a summer move.
Links go back a few months – the Daily Star reported in February that Spurs were keeping tabs on Damsgaard.
Leeds, West Ham and Southampton were also checking him out, added the outlet.
But now, pretty much everyone in the football world knows about Damsgaard, so Paratici will have to hurry.
The 21-year-old has been truly sensational for Denmark over the past few weeks, so he’s bound to get many more clubs after him now.
He got on the scoresheet against England on Wednesday night with a superb free kick and was a constant thorn in the Three Lions’ side.
Who is Mikkel Damsgaard?
Damsgaard is a versatile player who can feature on the wings, in central midfield and as a No. 10.
He joined Sampdoria last September from Nordsjaelland.
The Italians reportedly paid £5.8m, making him Nordsjaelland’s third most profitable sale.
Damsgaard hit the ground running and clubs reportedly began monitoring him within months of joining.
The Dane made 35 Serie A appearances last season, registering two goals and four assists.
Gazzetta dello Sport claimed earlier this month that Sampdoria quoted AC Milan £26m for him.
That would still constitute a bargain for a player who Nordsjaelland chairman Jan Laursen recently compared to Kevin De Bruyne.
