Tottenham Hotspur are planning to reject all bids for Ryan Sessegnon this summer, despite the Sunday People (12/7; page 61) reporting that Barcelona are eyeing the 20-year-old.
It has been a tough first season for Sessegnon in North London. He has made just six appearances in the Premier League, with his most recent outing in the top flight coming back in January.
The Sunday People (12/7; page 61) reports that Barca are interested in the £25 million wide-man, along with Spurs teammate Tanguy Ndombele.
However, it appears that the Catalan giants may be in for some disappointment. While the Sunday People reports that Ndombele’s future could be in doubt, it is suggested that Spurs are not planning to let Sessegnon leave after one year.
The report claims that sources at the club have suggested that Tottenham plan to reject all bids for the youngster.
TBR View: Spurs right to give Sessegnon time
It has been a disappointing campaign for Sessegnon. But Tottenham would have surely been aware that there were no guarantees that he would hit the ground running.
Fans would certainly be forgiven for wishing they had seen more this season given the £25 million outlay. But he has shown at Fulham that he has the talent to bounce back and silence any doubters in the future.
Spurs therefore, appear to have made the right decision to look to snub all interest this summer. It is much too soon to write Sessegnon off.
