Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Mikkel Damsgaard is going from strength to strength for club and country.

According to Tuttosport, Spurs have been interested in the Sampdoria ace since last year, but so are Bayer Leverkusen, who have also been keeping tabs on him.

The 20-year-old only joined the Italian side last September, but has done so well that several clubs are keeping tabs on his progress and pondering a move.

Damsgaard was bought by Sampdoria for around £5.8million, becoming Nordsjaelland’s third most profitable sale in the process, behind Mohammed Kudus and Emre Mor.

However, the Denmark international is now said to have tripled in value, with Gazzetta dello Sport claiming he’s now worth “nearly” £18million.

Damsgaard has made 28 club appearances in all competitions this term, including 26 in Serie A, during which he’s scored twice and assisted four goals.

At international level, meanwhile, he now has two goals and three assists from just two appearances.

Damsgaard started in Sunday’s World Cup qualifier against Moldova, bagging a brace and also setting up two more goals in an 8-0 victory for the Danes.

“What an effort by the young Sampdoria Dane,” wrote Tipsbladet, who also rated him 5 out of 5.

“It bodes very well for the national team career if he can deliver like that just once in a while.

“Two presentations and two goals from Damsgaard, who seems to enjoy playing under Hjulmand again.”

Meanwhile, Bold gave Damsgaard 4 out of 5 and said he had a “great” match, describing him as “sublime” and “excellent”.

Damsgaard is a highly rated young player who has predominantly played as a left-winger this term, but is capable of playing anywhere across the front three as well as in central midfield.

Flemming Pedersen, his former boss at Nordsjaelland, has compared him to arguably the greatest Danish footballer of all time.

“I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again,” he is quoted by Tuttomercatoweb as saying. “I haven’t seen a Dane with so much potential since the days of Michael Laudrup”.

Given how well he’s been doing for club and country, the sky’s the limit for him, it seems.
