Spurs reportedly in talks to land Ronaldo-like star for peanuts, fans should be buzzing - TBR View

Tottenham Hotspur have had a rollercoaster of a season so far, and we’re not even at the halfway point.

From top of the Premier League table during the September international break to losing to the likes of Mura in the Conference League, Spurs fans have seen it all in the last few months.

However, things are now starting to look up again, with Antonio Conte managing Tottenham and a solid 2-0 Premier League victory in their last game.

With the January transfer window on the horizon, Spurs could well be a big draw for some top players thanks to Conte and Fabio Paratici’s star power.

And one player currently being linked with Tottenham would certainly cause a buzz at N17.

According to Sport1, Spurs are in talks to sign Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic, who’s apparently eager to work with Conte again.

The 32-year-old remains a key player at the club, with 18 appearances, three goals and two assists under his belt this season.

However, Perisic’s contract is up next summer, so Tottenham could either land him for a bargain price in January, or for absolutely nothing at the end of the season.

A move to England is ‘most likely’ for the Croatia international, added the outlet.

Perisic would thrive under Spurs boss Conte

In Conte’s 3-4-3 system, Perisic could feature as either a wing-back or as a striker-like winger further up.

In addition, his attacking quality, work rate, desire, aggression and experience would be a superb asset for Tottenham.

Perisic has over 500 competitive club appearances to his name, including 223 at Inter, 64 at Borussia Dortmund and 35 at Bayern Munich.

In addition, he has won 111 caps for Croatia, scoring 32 goals and reaching the 2018 World Cup final along the way.

And in terms of silverware, Perisic has eight trophies to his name – one Champions League, two Bundesligas, two Serie A titles, three German Cups and one German Supercup.

In the past, Perisic’s style of play has been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo, yet more testament to his quality along with all his other credentials and trophy haul.
