Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs to have sent scouts to watch Italy under-21s in their friendly with Romania on Tuesday, according to a report from Tuttomercatoweb.

Of course, Spurs fans would be forgiven for using the international break to turn some of their attention to the upcoming January transfer window.

It will be their first under Antonio Conte. And it would be no surprise if Fabio Paratici was kept incredibly busy during the month. Recent reports suggested that Conte could move for up to four new signings.

It would also make a lot of sense if some of their reported targets were based in Italy due to Conte and Paratici’s knowledge.

But perhaps they may not only have an eye on first-team-ready signings.

Tuttomercatoweb reports that Spurs have scouts in attendance as Italy’s under-21s face Romania. AC Milan and Atletico Madrid also have representatives.

Samuele Ricci a Premier League target in 2021, could Tottenham be looking at midfielder?

One of the most promising players within the current squad is Samuele Ricci. The 20-year-old has already made 77 appearances for the Empoli first-team during his career.

He has played 10 times in Serie A this season. And he is someone who has been linked with a Premier League move this year.

It was reported in May that Leicester City and Arsenal want the holding midfielder, who had an £13 million asking price.

There is nothing to suggest who Spurs are looking at. But Ricci may perhaps be the safest bet. Certainly, it would be a surprise if he was a player that those attending the game had little knowledge of.
