Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Nick Pope has come in for huge praise in recent years, including from the likes of Ian Wright and Jurgen Klopp.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Spurs have made the Burnley goalkeeper their number one target if Hugo Lloris leaves the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.
The Spurs stopper and skipper will have one year left on his contract in the summer, and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keen on signing the France World Cup winner.
Should Lloris leave London, then Spurs apparently have Pope in their scope.
The 28-year-old joined Burnley from Charlton in 2016 and has developed into one of the Premier League’s best-performing and most consistent goalkeepers.
Klopp hailed Pope after Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Burnley at Anfield last July, being quoted by talkSPORT as saying: “Nick Pope was obviously warmed up.
“We warmed him up through the game and he was properly warm and had some really sensational saves.”
And Arsenal legend Wright told Match of the Day – via Lancashire Live – after that game: “Nick Pope was fantastic.
“His manager said he had his boots on the wrong feet because of his kicking but some of his saves were absolutely unbelievable. He closes down very well.
“The saves he made kept them in the game for them to come back and that’s what happens in this league.”
Pope, who has won four England caps, is contracted to Burnley until 2023 on a £35,000-a-week deal, though this also includes an option for an additional year.
He is reportedly valued at £30million.
