Spurs predicted XI tonight: £200k-a-week star drops out as Mourinho starts player who’s ‘technically so sound’

Tottenham Hotspur will look to get back to winning ways and seal progress to the Europa League quarter-finals tonight.

Spurs head to Croatia to face Dinamo Zagreb in their last-16 second leg, with Jose Mourinho’s charges leading 2-0 from the first encounter.

Harry Kane scored twice for Tottenham in last week’s first leg, helping the North Londoners to a fifth consecutive win in all competitions.

However, Spurs were then defeated in the North London derby, so they’ll be desperate to make amends tonight and on Sunday before the international break.

In terms of the starting XI, Mourinho is likely to make a few changes.

Matt Doherty struggled against Arsenal but, given Spurs play again in three days, Mourinho could give him another chance, with Serge Aurier saved for the league.

Toby Alderweireld and Sergio Reguilon could be rested, with Eric Dier potentially partnering Davinson Sanchez at centre-back and Ben Davies deployed on the left.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is suspended, so Mourinho is forced into a change there, but he could well give £200,000-a-week star Tanguy Ndombele a break too.

This would likely see Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko line up in front of the back line.

In attack, Son Heung-min is out injured, so it could give Steven Bergwijn an opportunity to impress from the off – he could be named on the left.

The Dutchman – described by Dier as “so good in possession, keeps the ball so well, technically so sound” – is yet to score this term, but surely it’s just a matter of time.

With Erik Lamela suspended for Sunday’s Premier League meeting with Aston Villa, Mourinho may well look to use him tonight while he still can and name him on the right.

Finally, Dele Alli is likely to get a chance at No. 10 and Carlos Vinicius should lead the line and give Kane some respite ahead of Sunday and the international break.
