Spurs predicted starting XI v Pacos de Ferreira: 20-year-old to start, 'absolutely fantastic' player left out

Spurs have begun their Premier League campaign brightly, winning their opening two games.

Now, Tottenham turn their attention to the Europa Conference League, where they’re currently in a losing position.

Nuno Espirito Santo rang the changes in last week’s trip to Pacos de Ferreira.

However, this backfired as Tottenham struggled and fell to a meek 1-0 defeat.

The Spurs boss has stressed that the second leg is a “must-win game” and that this week is “totally different”.

Spurs team news

The big news relates to Harry Kane confirming he’s staying put at Spurs and also being “an option” for Thursday’s game.

Kane wasn’t in the squad against Manchester City and against Pacos first time round.

However, he got 18 minutes off the bench at Wolves amid a warm reception from Spurs fans.

Meanwhile, summer signing Cristian Romero is back in contention, but Joe Rodon and Cameron Carter-Vickers won’t feature.

So, what starting XI could Nuno go for at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium? Let’s take a look.

Spurs predicted starting XI

Pierluigi Gollini was brought in as a cup keeper and is likely to feature as he did in the first leg.

Romero’s return to fitness should see him make the XI, and we predict he’ll play alongside Eric Dier at centre-back.

Serge Aurier wasn’t named in the 25-man squad for the tie, so Matt Doherty is likely to go on the right.

Ryan Sessegnon – who Jose Mourinho once deemed “absolutely fantastic”, would be a great shout on the left.

However, we predict Nuno will go with experience in such an important match and pick Ben Davies instead.

In midfield, we reckon Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will keep his place to give Spurs more control – again, due to the must-win nature of the game.

Harry Winks and Giovani Lo Celso, who came off the bench on Sunday, could also return to the XI.

And in attack, we predict Kane will return to the starting XI, with Lucas Moura and 20-year-old Bryan Gil either side of him.

Son Heung-min looked like he had a problem during the Wolves match, so he could well sit this one out.
