Spurs must step up efforts for 'incredible' £22m target now or they'll regret it - TBR View
Spurs have been linked with Nikola Milenkovic in recent weeks.
However, two reports emerged on Wednesday which suggest he may be slipping from Tottenham‘s reach.
The first, from Tuttomercatoweb, claims fellow Fiorentina defender German Pezzella is on the way to Real Betis.
With the Argentine leaving Florence, coach Vincenzo Italiano is now banking on Milenkovic to be his defensive star, added the report.
The Serie A club appeared willing to move him on, but now they may want to keep him.
And the 6ft 5in powerhouse, whose contract expires next summer, may even be considering penning a new deal.
Meanwhile, the second suggests Tottenham might be hesitating over Milenkovic’s signature.
According to Sky Sports, the Fiorentina centre-back has spoken to Spurs, West Ham and Wolves.
However, he is apparently growing frustrated over a lack of progress on all three fronts, and might be tempted to stay put.
It’s absolutely crucial for Fabio Paratici to land Milenkovic this summer as there won’t be a better opportunity.
The Serbia international’s contract expires next summer, so his reported price tag is a lot lower than it could be.
According to Viola News, he could be available for just 25million euro (£22million).
But if Milenkovic pens a new contract, this would strengthen Fiorentina’s hand in any future negotiations and he could cost a lot more.
And at just 23 years old, Milenkovic is far from the finished product – so Spurs must pull out all the stops to land him now.
