Tottenham Hotspur are going to need to part with a hefty sum if they hope to sign Max Aarons, with Sky Sports reporting that Norwich City have told Bayern Munich that he could cost up to £35 million.

The Canaries look set to face a fight to keep the right-back in the summer. He has continued to impress after proving to be a shining light during their most recent campaign in the Premier League.

The Sunday Mirror (24/1; page 72) reported last month that Spurs were eyeing a future move for Aarons. It was noted at a similar time by Football London that chief scout Steve Hitchen had attended a Norwich game.

However, if Tottenham do decide to make a move, it appears that they will have to see off competition from Bayern Munich if they hope to land the full-back.

Sky Sports reports that initial talks between Norwich and the Bavarian giants have begun. It is claimed that Daniel Farke’s men would prefer to conclude discussions at the end of the season.

But the Bundesliga side have been told that Aarons will cost between £30 million and £35 million.

TBR View: Asking price will surely deter Tottenham

Spurs have parted with some significant fees in recent years. But given the options they currently have at right-back, it would arguably be little surprise if they were reluctant to meet Norwich’s asking price.

Of course, that situation may change if one of Serge Aurier, Matt Doherty or Japhet Tanganga leave in the summer.

But Tottenham arguably have more pressing issues heading into the summer. So paying up to £35 million for Aarons may not appeal to Jose Mourinho and Daniel Levy.
