Spurs make contact over De Bruyne 2.0 with Ronaldo seal of approval - report
Tottenham Hotspur are once again being linked with Dejan Kulusevski.
But with Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici now at Spurs, the chances of landing a player from Juventus are higher than they’ve ever been.
And Kulusevski would be quite a coup for Tottenham, given his qualities and high ceiling.
In addition, his apparent availability suggests he wouldn’t be an unrealistic target.
According to Calciomercato, Spurs have opened preliminary talks with Kulusevski’s agent, Alessandro Lucci.
Tottenham are apparently up against north London rivals Arsenal for the 21-year-old’s services.
And both Spurs and the Gunners are reportedly looking for a loan deal with option to buy.
Juve are currently undecided, added Calciomercato.
They “haven’t said no” to Tottenham and Arsenal, “but haven’t said yes either”.
The Sweden international is out of favour for the most part under Massimiliano Allegri.
Juve, who are seeking to balance the books and boost their transfer budget, reportedly want at least £30million for him.
Spurs target Kulusevski – the story so far
Kulusevski was born in Stockholm, Sweden on 25 April 2001.
His career began at IF Brommapojkarna before joining Atalanta’s academy in 2016.
Kulusevski made his senior Atalanta debut in 2019.
He then joined Parma on loan at the beginning of the 2019–20 season.
Kulusevski subsequently signed for Juventus during the 2020 winter transfer window.
The £31.5million signing then rejoined Parma on loan until the summer.
His Juve debut came in September 2020, scoring on his first appearance in a Serie A win over Sampdoria.
To date, Kulusevski has made 65 appearances for the club, and has won 20 caps for Sweden.
His key traits include technique, versatility, physicality and unselfishness on the pitch.
Reported Spurs target has Cristiano Ronaldo seal of approval
Manchester United and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo rates Kulusevski very highly.
Speaking after Portugal’s 2-0 win over Sweden in September 2020, Ronaldo heaped praise on the youngster.
“He is a great talent,” he said, according to Juvefc.com.
“He will help us to win and achieve incredible things.
“I really like to see him, he has a great potential, and he’s an excellent player.
“I hope to play with him and score a lot of goals together.”
Kevin De Bruyne comparisons
Over the years, Kulusevski has been compared to none other than Kevin De Bruyne.
Kulusevski reminds me to De Bruyne. At his age it’s not easy to play in Serie A. Paratici should invest a lot of cash on him. He is the missing puzzle of Juve midfield.— Adhipta Semidang Putra (@adhipta) December 20, 2019
I do like Kulusevski, he reminds me a bit of DeBruyne at his age but yeah they need some huge changes!— Jackie (@hundredmillie) March 9, 2021
Watching Dejan Kulusevski he reminds me of Kevin De Bruyne so much, City should’ve got him instead of Grealish imo.— 𝙉𝘼𝙅𝙀𝙀𝘽 ⭐⭐ (@jeebafootball) December 1, 2021
According to Di Marzio, Juventus have signed Dejan Kulusevski. That’s a great signing. Reminds me of KDB with better mobility. Will be at the top of Serie A for the next decade. Great business.— TacticalRole (@TacticalRole) December 30, 2019
Federico Balzaretti: “Kulusevski reminds me of De Bruyne, he lacks his incisiveness but he has those characteristics – Cuadrado? He is a player often underestimated, but he is among the best wingers ever in Europe.” [DAZN] pic.twitter.com/EyzllIB1Wx— Forza Juventus (@ForzaJuveEN) November 22, 2020
