Cristian Romero talks Spurs, Paratici and Atalanta ahead of N17 move
Cristian Romero has spoken about his imminent move to Spurs as he admitted the Tottenham project appealed to him “straight away”.
Spurs have been heavily linked with the Atalanta and Argentina defender for a number of weeks now.
And now it looks as though Tottenham have got their man, Sky Sports claiming they’ve agreed a £47million deal with Atalanta.
The 23-year-old reportedly underwent the second part of his Tottenham medical in Italy on Thursday.
As per the Thursday morning report, Romero will then head to London to complete his move to Spurs.
Romero’s comments ahead of Spurs arrival
Romero is flying from Bergamo airport and, before jetting off, he spoke to the media about his imminent move.
“I’m very happy for the year I’ve just had at Atalanta,” Tuttomercatoweb quotes him as telling Sky Italia.
“I’m sorry to be leaving the club but I’m nonetheless happy about my decision – I must continue to grow.
“I’d like to thank (Fabio) Paratici for showing interest in me.
“The (Spurs) project appealed to me straight away and I’ll have to deliver on the pitch.
“But first I’d like to thank Bergamo and Atalanta, the Percassi family, my teammates and the manager, who’s helped me grow in ways I couldn’t imagine.
“The Premier League is a difficult championship, I must carry on doing what I’ve been doing up to now.
“To the Atalanta fans, I’m sorry, to them I’d just like to say thank you for what you’ve given me from the day I joined.
“There’s going to be one more Atalanta supporter in London.”
