Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Eberechi Eze has spoken of how he wants to play at the “highest level”, whilst stating how much he is enjoying life at Queens Park Rangers, in conversation with Sky Sports.
The QPR winger has developed into an outstanding player over the past few years and this season has claimed an impressive 12 goals and eight assists in 39 Championship games prior to the league’s suspension.
Tottenham are said to have been tracking Eze for some time and are increasingly interested in making a move, with Spurs scout Brian Carey present to see Eze star in QPR’s 3-1 win at Preston in March, according to The Sun.

“I think last season was such a big learning point for me because I’ve learned to deal with stuff like this (media attention),” Eze told Sky Sports. “Because it was my first season, I didn’t exactly know how to handle it. I’d be looking into stuff and I could feel it affecting my game and I wasn’t maybe as focused as I should’ve been.
“This season, of course, I’m seeing the stuff that is in front of me but I’m not allowing it to affect what I’m doing. The most important thing is what I’m doing on the pitch and as long as I continue to focus on that, everything else will fall into place. I want to play at the highest level.”
Eze also spoke of how much he’s enjoying life at QPR, adding: “Honestly, it’s so good playing for QPR because I enjoy going in every day and that’s how you play the best football in your career. You’re free in the mind, you’re not worried going in, you’re not anxious or anything like that – you feel confident to do your job.
“We’ve got Ilias [Chair], Bright [Osayi-Samuel], me, Mide [Shodipo]; we’ve got young players in the team that are very good players, pushing on to do greater things. It’s just good to be in and around them and to work with such good people.”
According to The Sun, QPR are said to be starting bids for Eze – whose contract expires at the end of next season – at £20million.
TBR View:
Eze has clearly shown that he is a cut above with his exhilarating displays for QPR and impressive goal and assist tally, and all at the age of just 21.
With QPR facing a battle to make it into the Championship playoffs once the season resumes and Eze’s contract only taking him to 2021, the opportunity for Spurs to pounce on a truly sensational prospect is there.
Admittedly, Eze is loving life at QPR, but a player of his talent is surely destined for the Premier League sooner rather than later – and if he doesn’t pen a new contract, this summer could be the last chance for the club to cash in on him.
