Antonio Conte is yet to get the chance to play Oliver Skipp and Rodrigo Bentancur together in the heart of Tottenham’s midfield.
Bentancur only came in late in the January transfer window and Skipp has been injured since the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea that month.
But the Athletic report that there is serious excitement among Tottenham insiders about the prospect of the pair playing together.

It is apparently felt that the pair are more complete midfielders than Danish international Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. has
Skipp and Bentancur are seen as better options in terms of moving the ball quickly up the pitch and helping Spurs create from midfield.
Conte is apparently a big admirer of Skipp and Tottenham tend to get better results when the Englishman is at the heart of their midfield.

Skipp remains sidelined but it is to be hoped he can make a comeback this month with Spurs in the chase for the Champions League spots.
Conte is still searching for that consistency of results and performances. There were flickers before the international break and they need to pick up where they left off when the Premier League gets underway again.
The pair will need to play games to get used to each other but if they can guide Spurs into the top four, they can look forward to dining at European football’s top table next term.
