Spurs have assembled a formidable attack, but at times it has been known to lack pace.
Yet, slowly, Mauricio Pochettino has assembled an array of options which offers more variety. The problem is, right now, injuries mean he is unable to access them.
Where Heung-min Son and Lucas Moura may well have been brought in to offer a pacy alternative; perhaps only one of the duo is in Pochettino’s optimum line-up when everyone’s fit.
However, the current injury crisis has thrust both men into centre stage. The pair must step up and be counted.
Having both of them in the side makes Tottenham into a different type of side. They are more direct and pacy, able to put intense pressure on the opposition, who are less willing to push up.
Their issue is that Pochettino’s lack of options does not offer them too much by way of respite; they must keep their levels and intensity high through a heavy run of games.
This is something of an opportunity for both men; for their sakes and Tottenham’s, they need to grab it.
