'Spurs in the mud': Chelsea fans react to speculation on 'absolutely brilliant' player

Reported Spurs target Jules Kounde is in advanced talks with Chelsea, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian has claimed that the Tottenham-linked centre-back is “the main target” for the Blues.

Given Kounde wants Champions League football, he’s open to joining Chelsea, added Romano.

Furthermore, the story seems to be developing quickly, with an agreement reportedly ready on personal terms with Chelsea and a deal until 2026 on the cards.

Earlier this month, Romano claimed Tottenham’s Fabio Paratici had been in touch with Kounde’s agent.

“It’s true that they had direct contact with his agent,” Romano said on Chris Cowlin’s Youtube channel.

“Kounde is really appreciated by Paratici, he thinks he’s one of the best centre-backs he could sign for Tottenham.”

However, the 22-year-old reportedly rejected Spurs’ advances as he is apparently holding out for a Champions League team.

Since then, Spurs have been linked with numerous other centre-backs, including Atalanta’s Cristian Romero.

Nonetheless, some Chelsea fans welcomed their club’s reported interest in Kounde, as well as poking fun at Spurs along the way.

What Chelsea fans have said about links with Kounde amid Spurs interest:

Kounde, a centre-back who can also operate as a right-back, has formed a solid partnership with Diego Carlos at Sevilla.

The £73,000-a-week ace has clocked up 89 competitive appearances for Sevilla, along with 70 at first club Bordeaux.

In addition, Kounde is already a European champion, having won the Europa League in 2020, and has won two France caps.
