Tottenham Hotspur icon Michael Dawson has given his thoughts on West Bromwich Albion, name-checking two players as he talked up the Baggies’ potential for the upcoming Premier League season.
Dawson, who made over 300 appearances for Spurs between 2005 and 2014, gave his former club an insight into West Brom, who were promoted to the top flight as Championship runners-up last season.
Currently with Nottingham Forest, the 36-year-old captained the Reds in the 2019-20 season opener against Slaven Bilic’s side at the City Ground, and was on the bench for the reverse fixture at The Hawthorns.

Although Dawson believes there wasn’t one single stand-out player at West Brom, instead praising the team as a whole, he did speak highly of captain Jake Livermore and forward Charlie Austin.
“There wasn’t a stand-out player for me, as such, they are solid, a unit, more of a collective,” he told the Tottenham website.
“Jake Livermore in the centre of the park, very strong, physical, keeps them ticking over, back four strong, good down the flanks and goals up top, Charlie Austin still knocking them in and depth in attack.
“They are strong at both ends of the pitch – don’t concede a lot, options up front – and that’s why they went up.”
Spurs travel to West Brom in the Premier League on 7 November before hosting the Baggies at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 6 February.
TBR View:
Livermore enjoyed a superb season for West Brom last time out, providing steel in midfield and also showing improvements on the attacking front.
Austin, meanwhile, finished as the Baggies’ top scorer on 11 goals, despite not being a regular starter, and some of his strikes were crucial for the club’s promotion hopes.
With plenty of other superb players in the navy and white – Matheus Pereira, Romaine Sawyers and Grady Diangana to name but three – and a great manager at the helm, they’re well-placed to do well on their top-flight return.
