Spurs gem likened to Bellingham spotted in training pre-Marseille, laughing and joking with teammates

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has been putting his players through their paces ahead of their long-awaited return to Champions League action.

Tottenham have begun brightly in the Premier League and will be hoping to carry their form into European competition.

Likewise, Spurs’ opponents on the night have hit the ground running in Ligue 1, with five wins and a draw from six.

On Tuesday, Tottenham put on an open training session for the media.

Pape Matar Sarr took part in the training session. And despite still awaiting his Tottenham debut, he’s already getting along really well with his teammates.

‘When the players first came out to train, Djed Spence was seen chasing Sarr, with the duo laughing and joking around,’ wrote De Duve.

‘Whilst the team were warming up and running up and down the field, the Senegalese international was then seen joking around with both Son Heung-min and Hugo Lloris.

‘The 19-year-old seemed in good spirits and clearly gets on with his new teammates, even if he isn’t getting the game time on the field.’

Sarr joined Spurs last summer, but spent the season on loan at French outfit Metz.

This term, Tottenham were going to arrange another loan move for him.

However, Conte then opted to keep him at the club.

Gianluca Di Marzio reported that the concussion sustained by Rodrigo Bentancur against Nottingham Forest caused Spurs to reconsider their stance on the youngster.

“A lot of parallels”

With Sarr remaining at N17, Conte could well hand him his competitive debut soon.

And Spurs fans should be excited, as the player looks like a star in the making.

Last year, French football expert Adam White told GiveMeSport that he feels Sarr has a similar skillset to Jude Bellingham.

When asked if there are similarities between the pair, White replied: “I think it’s a really good comparison actually.

“There’s a lot of parallels between them in terms of their ability and the positions they take up.

“And their skillset, and the job you would ask them to do in midfield as well.”

The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke recently told Last Word on Spurs: “He’s a big talent, he’s one of the best young players in the world in his position.

“I know for a fact that when Tottenham signed him they had other heads of recruitment at other clubs ringing them up saying: ‘Wow, you did well to get Sarr, he’s someone we wanted for a while’.
