A number of Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to reply to Toby Alderweireld after the defender posted a classy tribute to international teammate Jan Vertonghen.
Alderweireld and Vertonghen helped Belgium to a 1-0 win over Croatia on Sunday. Romelu Lukaku scored the only goal during the first-half.

The result gives Roberto Martinez’s men a bit more momentum heading into Euro 2020. It is a tournament where Belgium will surely be expected to shine.
The weekend also proved to be a landmark occasion for two of their players. As confirmed by Alderweireld on Twitter, the game saw the 350th time the Spurs star had played alongside Vertonghen.
Of course, the pair are two of their country’s most experienced players. But they have also played together at Ajax and at Tottenham.

Spurs are now struggling to recapture the magic that the pair produced. Alderweireld did not have the best campaign in North London.
Vertonghen meanwhile, left after eight years at Tottenham last year. In that time, he made well over 300 appearances for the club.
The 34-year-old may now be into the twilight of his career. But for many Spurs fans, Alderweireld’s tweet issued a reminder of an error the club may have made.

No centre-back pairing covered itself in glory at Tottenham this past season.
And after seeing Alderweireld and Vertonghen continue to impress for their country at the weekend, some believe that the club would be in a better position with the latter still in the Tottenham ranks.
