Spurs fans react to Pierluigi Gollini display vs Chelsea

A number of Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the display of Pierluigi Gollini as the goalkeeper made his first appearance for the club in their latest pre-season friendly.

Gollini made his Tottenham bow as they took on Chelsea in The Mind Series on Wednesday.

It looked set to be a frustrating night for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. They went 2-0 down against the Champions League winners.

However, they went on to produce a superb fightback to draw level during the second-half.

Nevertheless, a number of players seemed to come in for criticism during the contest. It certainly appears that some missed an opportunity to stake a claim for a starting spot for the upcoming season.

But one player whose stock seems to have risen already is Gollini. The Italian was deemed by many to be one of Tottenham’s better players. In fact, several felt that he was their best.

He was tested regularly. But he produced a number of excellent saves. And he seemed to impress many with how he commanded his defence.

It remains to be seen how his loan spell plays out. But plenty of Spurs fans are extremely hopeful that he could prove to be an inspired signing and earn an extended stay…
