Spurs fans react to Mikkel Damsgaard display in Denmark win

A number of Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Mikkel Damsgaard following his display for Denmark in their win over Scotland on Wednesday.

The Danes have put themselves in the driving seat to book their ticket to the 2022 World Cup. They beat Steve Clarke’s men 2-0 in Copenhagen.

The two goals came within 93 seconds of each other. Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg provided the assist for Daniel Wass’ opener.

But it was Damsgaard who left many stunned with a delicious pass to Joakim Maehle for the second goal.

It is the latest occasion in which the 21-year-old has stolen the show while representing his country.

Of course, he was one of the revelations of Euro 2020. It was his incredible free-kick that gave Denmark the lead in their semi-final with England.

According to Whoscored, he made more key passes than any other player on the pitch against the Scots. No Dane meanwhile, made a greater number of successful dribbles either.

And for Spurs fans, Damsgaard’s display has sparked a sense of frustration. Calciomercato claimed in mid-August that Tottenham were one of the teams leading the race for the starlet.
